The Special Region of Yogyakarta (also Jogjakarta before 1972 the Jogjas) is a city and province of the island of Java in Indonesia with around 3 million inhabitants. It is the only one province to still be governed from a sultanate pre colonial (that of Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat). The city is known as the center of the culture and the art javanese(batik, theater, music, poetry and shows of puppets)
